And my stomach is churning.
Right now I’m trying to mindfully breathe and through this breathing I want to feel a welling of compassion inside myself.
I will attempt to send this compassion to all who participate in and support these protests in a way to comfort them.
But above all I will send this compassion to the officers of the law who enacted the violence and those who endorsed it so that they may become aware of the precious connection of inter-being between all people.
I hope that others will also strive towards compassion and non-violence; and realize the connection between all beings be they people, animal, plant, or insect.
Quotes from the Buddha that are helping me:
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”
“An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea.”
“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”
“Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.”
“Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.”
“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.”
