So I was in Barnes & Nobel at the cafe are buying my new tarot deck and getting a soda. I go to pay with my debit and for some reason the swipe thing is making beeping noises and not taking my card. So we try it again and the same thing happens. Try it one more time and then the computer on the register freezes so they have to call the manager.

There’s kind of a long line behind me, I’m not feeling well due to shark week, so I start profusely apologizing. It takes a bit for the manager to get there because he was on the other side of the store. So the computer unfreezes and we try the swipe one more time. It doesn’t work. So as I’m trying to get my cash out of my wallet, I see the man on line behind me is talking loudly with the manager.

“I don’t understand it! Every time I come here there is always a problem with this register. Every time! I just want my drink. I’m in a rush. You shouldn’t let people who are getting books checkout here. There’s always a problem.”

So the manager is trying to calm him down while the grown man is having like an epic two year old tantrum.

So I’m getting all anxious and riled up because of yelling and something happening that I think is my fault.

A cashier says that he could take his order just down the counter which is only a few steps away.

“I don’t want to walk that far! You know what, keep your drink!”

And then he shoves his glass bottled drink across the counter and it almost falls over the edge. The man then grabs a magazine and huffs right down in a cafe chair.

I’m close to crying and the blessed cashiers calm me down by cracking jokes.

So after all that I see the tantrum man in the store again and I just really, really wanted to guilt trip him and say, “Hey dude, you almost gave me a panic attack. Good job!” But I just walked by.

I hate dealing with people.
