Who I Follow
my mom has been really policing how I look and present.
Yesterday she said that to look professional I need to wear makeup. I never wear makeup unless I’m cosplaying or in some other kind of costume.
Just a few minutes ago she said that she doesn’t want me to go out of the house with her while wearing a certain shirt. We’re just going out to look for yard sales and maybe a store.
I really don’t know how to talk to her about this and how uncomfortable it makes me…

Love, you are a grown adult, and can wear whatever you like. And you do not need makeup to look professional. I’m very feminine and happily present myself that way, and even I only wear makeup about 50% of the time (often less), even at work.
